I always share my life with you guys both good and bad.
It's been a tough year for me losing two dogs.    I lost Elvis in Aug. and Joe Joe in March this year.   Elvis was killed by a neighbor's Pit Bull in our own yard.   I didn't sleep for weeks with that scene in my mind and sometimes still wake up to it.   In March, Joe Joe was on my lap and went limp.   We rushed him to the emergency hospital and were told he had an undiagnosed tumor in his gut that had burst.  We had to put him down.  So we came home broken hearted.   My vet called the next day to give me his condolences and at the end of the conversation, he said, "by the way, there's a little 10 year old half poodle, half dachshund that needs a home.  Would you be interested?"  To make a long story shorter, I'd like to introduce you to the new love of my life, Rosie.   Rosie's owner died in December of 2013 and was not discovered until 10 days later.   Rosie had lost down to 10 pounds and was very sick.   My vet nursed her back to health and now you know the rest of the story.  She is now a robust 17 pounds with  black curly hair with just a touch of gray.   After all, she is a woman of a "certain age"    Everybody loves her and she loves everybody.   She is the star of the dog park and the star of our hearts.

Meet Rosie !

I rescue senior dogs.

From the National Wildlife Federation

The savviest gardeners know native plants are the secret to creating a garden that local wildlife flock to. Because they are indigenous, birds, butterflies and other wildlife have adapted to them over time which makes them crucial to a healthy ecosystem.

Here are five favorites to get your garden growing!

Mexican Hat Plant (aka ‘Red Midget’)

Mexican hat plant--This striking plant is perfect for the front of a sunny border because it loves hot, dry conditions. Even after the spring season, birds will love feasting on the seeds of spent flowers. It’s easy to grow and grows quickly as well.

Best for attracting: Native insects, butterflies and birds.

Black-eyed Susan

Black-eyed Susan--This classic garden wildflower provides nectar for butterflies. In late summer the seeds will attract finches and other birds. And aside from being beautiful, it’s easy to grow and drought tolerant once established.

Best for attracting: Butterflies and birds.

Swamp Milkweed

Swamp milkweed--This milkweed offers nectar for butterflies and hummingbirds. It is host plant and preferred food source for monarch butterfly caterpillars. Preferring moist soils, it’s great for use in rain gardens. This lovely perennial’s clusters of pink flowers bloom in June and July.

Best for attracting: Butterflies and hummingbirds — monarchs especially.

Cardinal Flower

Cardinal flower--Each beautiful scarlet flower stays in bloom for several weeks. Hummingbirds and swallowtail butterflies love the nectar. Insects find it difficult to navigate the long tubular flowers, so Cardinal Flowers depend on hummingbirds for pollination.

Best for attracting: Hummingbirds and swallowtail butterflies.

Windflower--Windflower is a hardy groundcover for moist, shady sites and boasts beautiful, pure white flowers that pollinators love. It combines well with other spring-blooming perennials and adds a fresh pop of color to shady areas of the garden.

Best for attracting: Native woodland pollinators.

The Daily Cute: Animals Love 'People Food'

Did you know this?
Like humans, cats rely on the sun for the majority of their Vitamin D reserves. Unlike humans, however, cats don’t produce Vitamin D via direct sun-to-skin exposure as their fur is far too dense and protective for direct sunlight to penetrate. Instead, cats get their Vitamin D in a rather clever fashion without so much as ruffling their fur. The oil secreted by a cat’s skin works its way to the tips of the cat’s hair and is spread around by the cat grooming itself.
The oil coating the outer layer of the fur reacts with the UV light produced by the sun and breaks down into, you guessed it, Vitamin D. Then, during the next grooming session the cat eats the broken down oils to get a supply of Vitamin D and spreads a whole new batch of oil from lower in its coat to start the process all over again.

How Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord Ps33:12

Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America”

Diamond Rio: In God We Still Trust -

"If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."- Ronald Reagan

All this time, I thought this was Billy Graham's prayer.  It isn't.
Prayer for Our Nation

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your Forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word Says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have Done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We Have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded Laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it Choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable... We have Neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We Have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's Possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity And pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the Time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search Us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and Set us free.
In Jesus name, amen!' With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and Wholeheartedly become our desire so that we once again can be called 'One Nation under God!'
