I grew up with open windows and an attic fan.  NO AIR CONDITIONING.   My kids think I lead a very deprived life with no  iPhone or TV.  I had no idea I was missing anything.  During the day, I was out running around and climbing trees and playing football with the boys.  My Mom had a hula skirt she let me have from a soldier in WWII.   It must have been funny for the  neighbors to see me.  I was postive I was going to grow up and be a hula girl.  At night, the Formosa tree outside my bedroom window perfumed my whole room and I thought all was right with my world.
A history of air conditioning.

Play Clay Projects
Frame ups
Capture a child's hand print in Play Clay (recipe below)by pressing hand into damp clay. When dry, paint and add the child's name and date on the back. Then attach a picture hanger.
Cut a square or rectangle from Play Clay, then cut a frame opening the size of a favorite photograph. Leave a 1/2 inch border. Use another piece of clay for a stand to attach to the back. Decorate the frame.
Play Clay
Make this clay then go wild with all the things you can create. The clay hardens as it dries for a lasting keepsake.
2 cups baking soda
1 cup cornstarch
1 1/4 cups cold water
food coloring (optional)

Mix baking soda and cornstarch in a saucepan. Add water, stir to mix, then cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, 10-15 minutes.  Add food coloring to the water to make a colored clay.   Don't overcook. Clay should have the consistency of mashed potatoes. Remove to a plate and cover with a damp cloth to cool.
Make it ahead of time, and store it for up to one week. Keep it refrigerated in a plastic container, but bring to room temperature before using.

Can Some Drugs Make Me More Sensitive to the Sun? - Consumer Reports News

Do I need sunscreen with more than 30 SPF?
Short answer: No
Sunscreens with an SPF (sun protection factor) of 30 block about 97% of ultraviolet rays,
while sunscreens with an SPF of higher than 30 block 97%-98%.
It's more important that you choose "broad-spectrum" sunscreen, meaning it protects against both UVB and UVA rays.
Sunbathers also need to apply a generous amount of sunscreen in order to get the full benefit of the SPF.

Did you know that tomatoes are the most popular homegrown vegetable? You probably aren't surprised. The vine plants are easy to grow in containers on patios or decks or in a simple backyard patch of dirt... and a fresh, homegrown tomato tastes light-years better than what you'd get in the grocery store. Would you like your tomatoes to taste even sweeter? Here's what to do: Lower the acidity of your tomatoes by sprinkling baking soda (one-quarter to one-half cup, depending on the size of your plants) around your maturing plants and working it into the soil (about an inch or two below the surface). Do this once a week, and your tomatoes will taste sweeter.

Give me a sense of humor, Lord,
Give me the grace to see a joke,
To get some humor out of life,
And to pass it on to other folks.
My two-year-old cousin scared us one summer by disappearing during our lakeside vacation. More than a dozen relatives searched the forest and shoreline, and everyone was relieved when we found Alex playing calmly in the woods.

"Listen to me, Alex," his mother said sharply. "From now on when you want to go someplace, you tell Mommy first, okay?"

Alex thought about that for a moment and said, "Okay. Disney World."

A woman in her eighties made the evening news because she was getting married for the fourth time. The following day she was being interviewed by a local TV station, and the commentator asked about what it felt to be married again at that age and would she share part of her previous experiences, since it seem quite unique the fact that her new husband was a ‘funeral director.’ After a short time to think, a smile came to her face and she proudly explained that she had first married a banker when she was in her twenties, in her forties she married a circus ring master, and in her sixties she married a pastor and now in her eighties, a funeral director. The amazed commentator asked her why she had married men with such diverse careers. With a smile on her face she explained, ‘I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go.’

For her summer job, my 18-year-old daughter arranged interviews at several day-care centers. At one meeting, she sat down on one of the kiddie seats, no simple task for most people. The interview went well, and at the end, the day-care center director asked the standard question, "Can you give me one good reason we should hire you?"

"Because I fit in the chairs." She got the job.

How Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord Ps33:12

Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America”

Diamond Rio: In God We Still Trust -

"If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."- Ronald Reagan

All this time, I thought this was Billy Graham's prayer.  It isn't.
Prayer for Our Nation

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your Forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word Says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have Done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We Have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded Laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it Choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable... We have Neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We Have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's Possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity And pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the Time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search Us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and Set us free.
In Jesus name, amen!' With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and Wholeheartedly become our desire so that we once again can be called 'One Nation under God!'

How Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord Ps33:12
