My Dad didn't want any presents for father's day... he just wanted all his kids in the home at one time.  His favorite meal was anything he didn't go out and hunt or fish for.   Daddy always put the protein on the table so something from the grocery store was a special treat!  Banana Pudding was what he wanted for dessert  and he'd call it Nanner Puddin'.  In case you haven't figured it out, the simple things are always the best--my Dad taught me that.

"And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

On July 19, 1910, the governor of the U.S. state of Washington proclaimed the nation’s first “Father’s Day.” However, it was not until 1972, 58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official, that the day became a nationwide holiday in the United States.

"A Father"
--author unknown to this editor

A father is a thing that is forced to endure childbirth, without an anesthetic.
A father is a thing that growls when it feels good–and laughs loud when it’s scared half to death.
A father never feels entirely worthy of worship in his child’s eyes.  He never is quite the hero his daughter thinks, never quite the man his son believes him to be.  This worries him, sometimes, so he works too hard to try and smooth the rough places in the road for those of his own who will follow him.
A father is a thing that gets very angry when school grades aren’t as good as he thinks they should be.  He scolds his son although he knows it’s the teacher’s fault.
Fathers grow old faster than other people.
And while mothers can cry where it shows, fathers stand there and beam outside–and die inside.  Fathers have very stout hearts, so they have to be broken sometimes or no one would know what is inside.  Fathers give daughters away to other men who aren’t nearly good enough so they can have grandchildren who are smarter than anybody’s.
Fathers fight dragons almost daily.  They hurry away from the breakfast table, off to the arena which is sometimes called an office or a workshop… where they tackle the dragon with three heads: Weariness, Work and Monotony.

Knights in shining armor.
Fathers make bets with insurance companies about who will live the longest.  Though they know the odds, they keep right on betting.  Even as the odds get higher and higher, they keep right on betting more and more.
And one day they lose.
But fathers enjoy an earthly immortality and the bet is paid off to the part of him he leaves behind.
I don’t know where fathers go when they die.  But I have an idea that after a good rest, he won’t be happy unless there is work to do.  He won’t just sit on a cloud and wait for the girl he’s loved and the children she bore.
He’ll be busy there, too… oiling the gates, smoothing the way.

Welcome June !
June offers the most hours of daylight of any month of the year! (in the Northern Hemisphere)  For gardeners, this is a
great boon, allowing them to concentrate on their fields and flowers.

June is named for the Roman goddess Juno, patroness of marriage and women. Since
ancient times, cultures have adopted June as the perfect time for revelry, weddings,
 and feasts.

One old proverb says, “Calm weather in June sets corn in tune.”

Like Goldilocks, gardeners hope for weather that is just right: not too hot, not too cold, not too wet, not too dry.

Even the tenderest plants—softies like basil and tomatoes are put in the ground in June.

Folk wisdom tells us that plants will catch up by the end of the month regardless of how early we got them in the ground—thanks to the long hours of sunshine.

The birthstones for June are the pearl, alexandrite, and moonstone.

The birth flower for June is the rose.

I think there is a country song by this name

Remembering The Good Ole Days............

I have listened to the words to American Pie for many years and thought I understood everything that was being sung about.  However when the words are put together with pictures and film clips the song takes on new meaning.  It took a lot of thought.  Sure brings back lots of memories.  Very well done and imagination to write it and a lot of work putting the images together also.  A job well done!

What is your pet food made from – edible food or inedible waste meats and vegetables? Do you know? Most consumers don’t know because pet food regulations DO NOT require manufacturers to tell consumers the quality of ingredients used in the pet food.

Animals in Mirrors Hilarious Reactions |

Crunchy Tuna Cat Treats
Makes about 3 dozen treats
1 (5 ounce) can tuna, no salt added and packed in water, drained
1 cup oat flour*
1 large egg
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 heaping tablespoon dried catnip
*It’s easy to make your own oat flour. Simply grind old-fashioned oats in a spice grinder (or a super clean coffee grinder) until it is transformed into a light powder. There you have it — oat flour!
1. Place a rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
2. In the bowl of a food processor fitted with a blade attachment, combine drained tuna, oat flour, egg, olive oil and catnip. Blend until mixture is smooth. It will be thick but pliable and not terribly sticky.
3. Roll dough into 1/2 teaspoon balls and place on prepared cookie sheet. Use a skewer to press an X-shape into each cookie ball.
4. Bake cookies for 10 to 12 minutes until they are dried on top and slightly browned. Allow to cool completely before offering to your kitty.
5. Place treats in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to seven days.

All this time, I thought this was Billy Graham's prayer.  It isn't.
Billy Graham's Prayer for Our Nation

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your Forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word Says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have Done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We Have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded Laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it Choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable... We have Neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We Have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's Possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity And pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the Time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search Us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and Set us free.
In Jesus name, amen!' With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and Wholeheartedly become our desire so that we once again can be called 'One Nation under God!'
